From the Notre Dame To the Seine From the Notre Dame In the rain You said you'd be there By the station And I hung around For far too long And the dead bells sound Like the sound of the rain And I keep running away Paris in the snow makes me feel Alive again Alive again To the Gare du Nord For a train To the Gare du Nord Leave again Said you'd be there At the station But you disappeared Like a song And the dead bells sound Like the sound of the train And I keep running away Paris in the snow makes me feel Alive again Alive again And Paris in the snow Is the greatest feeling I know Paris in the winter Brings me back to you My eyes had fingers That touched your face That my eyes had fingers To touch your grace Minutes pass, hopes fade Never thought I'd feel this way After only a moment Or two Paris in the snow makes me feel Alive again After only a moment Or two It was just a moment In the Paris snow It was just a moment But even so In that moment Frozen forever... In the Paris snow

Even though I'm on the rag He still gave me a mornin' shag Said "High Five, my brutha!" When I saw my friend Cuz I'd had a mornin' shag And I don't need to pretend Haven't gone to work I Haven't even called in Cuz I been doin' what a sinner does best And baby that is sin * Isn't ordinary life a drag? Shouldn't everybody have a mornin' shag? Isn't ordinary life a drag? Shouldn't everybody have a mornin' shag? * It wasn't a sleazy situation He wasn't one of my relations We didn't spread any diseases I mean, how do you define what "sleaze" is? I know you all think he's a real bad guy And that I'm eatin' pie in the sky But let me tell you When we're alone He thrills me to the bone * Isn't ordinary life a drag? Shouldn't everybody have a mornin' shag? Isn't ordinary life a drag? Shouldn't everybody have a mornin' shag?

See the way you try to mold me Try to program and control me See the way you think you know If I should stay or go I say you throw the truth below Out of the way I try to understand your view I think you could try the same too See the way you make me fear you Thinking people should revere you Forcing everyone to hear you Dontcha dontcha hear me Copenhagen What a bill of goods ya sold me You think I'm fooled by tales you told me You don't seem to realize I see right through all your lies Dontcha dontcha hear me Copenhagen Is there a way How can I get through? Get a message to the likes of you Gotta be a way to heal it Dontcha tell me you can't feel it Dontcha dontcha feel it Copenhagen Dontcha dontcha hear me Copenhagen Dontcha leave here broken Shaken Spend your life regretting Whatcha did or didn't do In Copenhagen Copenhagen Cant ya hear me?

Today in another Time and place We posed our bodies in a sleep dance In through a new castle Of old architecture Faded forest green halls led to coloured rooms Each room a different generation A different time for each different hue And we watched eachother whiten Late into night Silver from the wobbly moon became our new skin We dealt another stroke of history On earth together Secret Late into night Night still in time Danced the secret sex rite Once again Like in that other place Before Champagne stars hugging tight Wobbly moon glow Happy are we in this Delicosio Happy are we in this Delicosio Oh oh oh oh oh We slept until the evening of time Mind to mind I watched us You watched us We stared and we studied Each delicate structure Dark paintings hung Against the woodwork of Lustrous green Each picture turned into a doorway A passage between the seen And the unseen And we danced the secret sleep dance Of love of old In places long forgotten Corridors opened into halls of rooms We had not yet discovered Distant relatives and lovers Watching us turn to different colours Silent painting, I wished for this In another room Once before Champagne stars hugging tight Wobbly moon glow Happy are we in this Delicosio Happy are we in this Delicosio Oh oh oh oh oh We slipped away No visitors came Only a dark green painting From another century Watched us turn into the architecture Slowly Like a sleep dance New corridors flung far away Into the distance Rooms we’d not discovered expanding out Into untold dimensions Walls unfolding into an area of Time and --------- Frighteningly aware of who and where we are Suddenly we’re laughing Always remember this Open another door There is no end to this place I wished for this before Delicosio Delicosio Delicosio

about

Diana Rosalind New Orleans, Louisiana

After being discovered by Bobby McFerrin as a young vocal improviser in San Francisco, I spent some years writing and performing with ensembles that remain important in the history of Bay Area arts, then did time tangling with the music biz in LA & NYC, followed by a decade in Europe, recording all the while, before coming "home" to NOLA. This is a partial musical record of that journey. ... more
