When I was asked to collaborate with world musicians on the 2002 Klangwelten tour, Rudiger asked to listen to a selection of songs from which to choose three of my originals to do versions of. This song which I first wrote as an a capella to which Barbara Imhoff wrote the original harp accompaniment, was featured on the Aether release "The Smoke of Vanished Kisses" and then chosen for the Klangwelten treatment by Rudiger. The electronic bed of sound and rhythm was created for the original Aether album by our producers, Chuck and Dave, and was here used as a backing track, over which Indian tabla master Jatinder Thakur played gorgeous ornaments while Rudiger improvised wild arpeggios. I loved performing this song in a combination of live traditional instrumentation and with electronics. I'm singing through a Digitech Vocal 300 signal processor, one of the first on-stage devices designed to be controlled by the singer, prior to sound reaching the main board.

This is a partial musical record of that journey. ... more
