about

A recently discovered16 track analogue recording, salvaged from mix down to cassette, that I thought had been lost forever and hadn't heard since 1999! Tim's drumming is amazing as usual. I could listen to that drop down to half-tempo bit a million times and never get tired of it. So precise and yet SO relaxed! Mooney spoiled me for life and I don't know if I will ever be truly impressed by another kit drummer again. I will always compare it to Tim's playing in my mind. Funnily enough, this song made him feel uncomfortable.

It was not inspired by any particular person, sorry to disappoint anyone hoping for a girl-crush story, but rather was about a meme of sorta wannabe bisexualism that had been trending hard across San Francisco in the 90s.

So, long before Katy Perry kissed a girl (a song actually written by a man) or BC Jean wrote "If I were a boy", Lil Tiger had already been there and done that. Just sayin'.

The lyrics quite make me blush but it is a very fun song to sing a long too and makes me feel young to belt it out. Was really happy to have found this old tape.

There is some noticeable tape bleed from the other side of the cassette (ah the accidental mashups of the analogue age) which I left in for ambience.

lyrics

Curious

She is like an ocean
When she walks I feel a wave
I want to flow into her darkness
Like water in a cave

I feel damaged and ragged
need to be kissed
Because of her skin and her magical wrists

She’s the kind of girl
She’s the kind of girl

Her body is a boulevard
Her heart a busy street
If I get stuck in her traffic jam
At least it will be sweet

I feel ruined and dizzy
and don’t understand
For once in my life
I wish I was a man

She’s the kind of girl
She’s the kind of girl

She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious
She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious

Curious...

She is like an orange
That I peel with my teeth
Pull apart the pieces
For the honey underneath

I feel drunken and foolish
and kinda confused
What am I choosin’ if
She’s what I choose?!

She’s the kind of girl
She’s the kind of girl

She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious
She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious

She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious
She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious

She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious
She’s the kind of girl that makes me curious

Curious...
Curious...

about

Diana Rosalind New Orleans, Louisiana

After being discovered by Bobby McFerrin as a young vocal improviser in San Francisco, I spent some years writing and performing with ensembles that remain important in the history of Bay Area arts, then did time tangling with the music biz in LA & NYC, followed by a decade in Europe, recording all the while, before coming "home" to NOLA. This is a partial musical record of that journey. ... more
