This track, recorded with the heavenly, if short-lived, Bards of Now, was inspired by writings of the 14th Century Rhine mystic Meister Ekhart. I was doing my Masters at the Oakland Naropa Institute under the tutelage of defrocked priest Matthew Fox at the time. I haven't much truck with religion, but I dig the mystics. The combination of the Medieval Saz (a strummed zither-type instrument) and the Moroccan 3-stringed bass (the Gmbiri) perfectly combined to realize a vision of what a rock band from the middle ages might sound like.

lyrics

Into the sea
All rivers go
And still the sea will never overflow
Onto their destiny
The rivers go
To the sea
To the sea
To the measureless sea
