about

More from the Tragic Tail of Little Tiger. This song, about unrequited love, may as well be about waiting for one's album to come out, after the evil record industry has gotten its oily talons sunk into the project. "Live, Work, Know, Growl" was supposed to be the name of the record, the record that never came out....

This track to me represents a direction I think we definitely would have explored further if things had lasted; high-energy songs with big dynamic shifts. Tim had a great talent for giving driving energy to songs that weren't actually that quick in terms of BPM. This is great for lyricists/singers because you can do intensity without having to go breathless.

lyrics

Live, work, know, growl...
Bleed green worry
Seep secret dirt
Sip a blue glass smile
Like broken candy
Wanting and waiting all the while...

*
And you
You are never here enough
And like every fool
Never
is my cake
Never
is my cake
Never
is my...
*

I wait
Slow wishes melt
It doesn't ring
Take a hold of almost
And pluck its little wings

With my sober teeth
I chew on hope
And suck the maybe-marrow
underneath

*
And you
You are never here enough
And like every fool
Never
is my cake
Never
is my cake
Never
is my...
*

Sip a blue glass smile
Like broken candy
Wanting and waiting all the while...

*
And you
You are never here enough
And like every fool
Never
is my cake
Never
is my cake
Never
is my...
*

about

Diana Rosalind New Orleans, Louisiana

After being discovered by Bobby McFerrin as a young vocal improviser in San Francisco, I spent some years writing and performing with ensembles that remain important in the history of Bay Area arts, then did time tangling with the music biz in LA & NYC, followed by a decade in Europe, recording all the while, before coming "home" to NOLA. This is a partial musical record of that journey. ... more
