The sky burned My hair flew to the East Fire-webs sprang from my fingertips Weaving tales in which better worlds come into being The circle is cast We have parted the veil Stepped into the centre of the whirling within Connected directions We are gathering strength Breathe....breathe... Cry for the soul with the passion of thieves Live...live.... Remember...remember Ask for the impossible Trusting yourself you listened Believing yourself you asked Wanting to know You found that you knew Feeling lost and looking about You found you found You Energy rises Strong and dark as night Sacred word comes out of earth The music that heals and destroys as is needed Tear it all down New lamps for old We have nothing to fear Though we may lose our lives Something is happening We're gathering strength Breathe....breathe Cry for the soul with the passion of thieves Live...live Remember Oh but I'm fast Hey but I'm still Hey yeah but I'm free Lost and found and here and now The music is pouring Right through me yeah Breathe....breathe... Cry for the soul with the passion of thieves Live...live.... Remember...remember Ask for the impossible Trusting yourself you listened Believing yourself you asked Wanting to know You found that you knew Feeling lost and looking about You found you found you found You Found

Nod 05:00
She stopped For a minute White as October We all thought She might never come back Thought that she had cashed out or crossed over Her quiet lips Looked quite finished Had she forgotten how to speak? How to breathe? We pulled her through water Like to baptise her We all thought She might come out the other side Changed by the dream of the diver Her silent wish Undiminished Had she forgotten how to pray? How to be? Easily Easily She flew around the room Once or twice Saying "isn't it nice to be in this other other other space!" And when she crashed in my lap Doll-eyes blinking Straight up I sat A cold breath down my back Clasping cold hands Glad she was back Or did I wish I was gone That easily Easily Be no more Be no more She stopped For a minute White as October We all thought She might never come back Thought she had cashed out or crossed over Her quiet lips Looked quite finished Had she forgotten how to speak? How to breathe? Easily Easily Slip away Be no more Slip away Easily

Changeling daughter Screaming at the paintings she made Throws a cloth over her head Invisible now... She cannot see me Tight as teeth her eyes are clenched A tangled brackish thatch Begins its spread Reluctant enemies are we On either side of a silence Heavier than lead You say I cannot So I will Indeed I think I must Speak the words from my heart But can I regain your trust? You are not listening! Rewinding through your pain Sri Lanka 8850 Which way the train? Which way the train? The trees in their vast windy sorrow Are shouting In whispers They are trying to tell us something Hush! Halt your fast speech You are not listening! I am trying to tell you something You say I cannot So I will Indeed I think I must Speak the words from my heart But can I regain your trust? I've wished that I was dead And on the tracks I've lain Sri Lanka 8850 Which way the train? Which way the train? Lost in the foreign land of you On every side a fence You're trying to get through to me I'm trying to hear your sense What language do you speak? What truth do you contain? Are you coming? Are you going? Have we anything to gain? You say I cannot So I will Indeed I think I must Speak the words from my heart But can I regain your trust? You are not listening! Rewinding through your pain Sri Lanka 8850 Which way the train? Which way the train? Which way the train? I am waiting I am waiting Ear against the ground I am waiting I am waiting Ear against the ground Which way the train?

about

Diana Rosalind New Orleans, Louisiana

After being discovered by Bobby McFerrin as a young vocal improviser in San Francisco, I spent some years writing and performing with ensembles that remain important in the history of Bay Area arts, then did time tangling with the music biz in LA & NYC, followed by a decade in Europe, recording all the while, before coming "home" to NOLA. This is a partial musical record of that journey. ... more
